Reseller bookkeeping
PalmFlow vs My Reseller Genie
An honest side-by-side from the team building PalmFlow. My Reseller Genie is a good bookkeeping tool and we'll show you exactly where it beats us — but bookkeeping is the whole of what it does, and it costs the same as a tool that does more.
The bottom lineBoth tools charge $19.99/mo. That gets you My Reseller Genie's books — or PalmFlow's books plus real inventory plus live two-way eBay sync, with Shopify and Discogs alongside. MRG is the better buy in two specific cases: you sell on consignment, or you want a bank feed doing your data entry. Outside those two, you're paying the same money for a narrower tool that only works if you file US taxes.
| Feature | My Reseller Genie | PalmFlow |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan | None — paid from day one | $0/mo forever · 50 active items, no card |
| Entry tier | $9.99/mo Basic — manual entry only, you type in every sale | $19.99/mo Pro, or stay on Free |
| The $19.99 tier, like for like | Ultimate — bookkeeping, plus sales imported from eBay, Poshmark and Mercari | Pro — the same bookkeeping, plus 500 active items of real inventory and live two-way eBay sync |
| Subscriptions to run the whole operation | Two or three — MRG has no inventory and no listing tools, so a crosslister and a spreadsheet sit next to it | One |
| Tracks an item before it sells | No — an item exists to MRG once it's sold. Nothing knows what's on your shelf | Yes — bin locations, per-item timeline, photos, custom fields |
| Live marketplace sync | Import only — pulls sales in, can't push a price or a listing back out | eBay two-way (title, price and photos go out); Shopify and Discogs sync in |
| Crosslisting — one listing to many marketplaces | No | No — this is sync, not crosslisting. Neither tool does it |
| Cost basis and accrual P&L | Yes — reseller-specific and genuinely deep. This is what they're good at | Yes — per-item cost basis, full P&L, tax reports |
| Consignment tracking | Yes, on Ultimate — few tools handle it well and they do | No |
| Mileage and bank feed | Mileage on every tier; automatic bank feed on Premium and up | Expenses with receipts and recurring costs — no bank connection |
| Warehouse-grade inventory ops | No | Barcode scanning, SKU labels, per-status SLA, check-out/check-in, audit log (Ultra) |
| More than one person | No — single seller, no second login | 2 users on Pro; roles, permissions and teams on Ultra |
| Sellers outside the US | US-only — built around a US tax year and US forms | Global — any country, any currency |
| On your phone | Web only | Web app on any device, installable to your home screen |
| Trying it | 14-day refund — you pay first, then ask for it back | Free plan forever, plus 14 days of Pro. No card either way |
Choose My Reseller Genie if…
- You sell on consignment. MRG's consignment tracking is a real feature that few tools in this category handle properly, and PalmFlow doesn't have it. If that's your business, this is the whole decision.
- You want your books fed by a bank connection. MRG's Premium tier pulls transactions in automatically; PalmFlow has expenses and receipts but no bank feed, so that's typing you'd still be doing.
- You already pay for a crosslister you like and only need books bolted onto it. Worth doing the arithmetic first: MRG Ultimate is $19.99, Vendoo starts at $14.99 and List Perfectly at $29 — so you're at $35–49/mo for two tools that don't talk to each other, and your shelf still lives in a spreadsheet.
- You sell only on eBay, Poshmark and Mercari. MRG imports those three; PalmFlow syncs eBay natively and takes the other two by CSV — worth knowing before you switch.
Choose PalmFlow if…
- You'd rather not pay twice. At $19.99 MRG gives you books. At $19.99 PalmFlow gives you the same books plus inventory plus live eBay sync — one bill instead of a bookkeeping subscription, a crosslister and a spreadsheet.
- You want to know what's on your shelf. MRG can't tell you: an item doesn't exist to it until it sells. PalmFlow tracks it from purchase — cost, bin, photos, how long it's been sitting.
- eBay is your main channel and you want the tool to work back. MRG reads your sales; PalmFlow pushes title, price and photo changes out to the live listing.
- You sell outside the US. MRG is US-only. PalmFlow isn't region-locked — any country, any currency, and it doesn't assume a US tax year.
- You're not doing this alone. MRG has no second login at any price. PalmFlow has 2 users on Pro, and roles, permissions and per-item check-out on Ultra.
- You want to try before paying. MRG's answer is a refund request after the fact. Ours is a free plan you never have to leave.
