    Reseller fee calculator

Enter your item once and see what you actually keep on nine marketplaces — after the selling fee, the processing cut, the shipping label, and what you paid for it.

    How marketplace fees actually work

Almost nobody charges one clean percentage. Four separate charges stack up, and the reason two “10% platforms” pay out differently is usually hiding in the other three.

    • The selling feeA percentage of the sale, called the final value fee on eBay and a commission almost everywhere else. It is the biggest number and the one everyone quotes.
    • Payment processingThe card-handling charge, usually a percentage plus a few cents. eBay and Mercari fold it into the headline rate; Etsy, Depop, Grailed, Whatnot, and StockX bill it on top.
    • A flat fee per orderA fixed amount charged once, regardless of price. It rounds to nothing on a $200 sale and eats a tenth of a $5 one.
    • Whatever you chose to addPromoted listing ad rates, a charity percentage, an international surcharge. All optional, all charged on top, all easy to forget you switched on.

Then come the costs the marketplace never sees: what you paid for the item, the shipping label if you cover it, and packing materials. The calculator subtracts all of it, which is why the number it gives you is smaller — and truer — than a fee percentage on its own.

One detail most fee calculators miss: eBay, Mercari, Etsy, Facebook, and Whatnot charge their percentage on the item price plus the shipping the buyer paid. Charging $8 postage on a $20 item doesn’t hand you $8 — the platform takes its cut of that too. Switch shipping to “Buyer pays” and enter what they paid, and you’ll see it.

    What each marketplace charges

US rates, checked in April 2026. These are the exact numbers the calculator above runs on.

eBay13.6% final value fee + $0.40 per order (varies by category; 2.35% above $7,500)The largest reseller audience, and the only one here with built-in authentication on high-value categories.
Mercari10% flat, with no separate payment processing feeSimple flat pricing and prepaid labels in the app. Smaller audience than eBay.
Poshmark$2.95 flat under $15, or 20% at $15 and aboveSocial selling. The buyer pays a fixed shipping fee, so your payout isn't reduced by the label.
Depop3.3% + $0.45 payment processing only — no seller commissionStreetwear and vintage, a younger audience, and no seller commission in the US or UK.
Whatnot8% + 2.9% + $0.30 payment processingLive selling and auctions. Strong for trading cards, collectibles, and sneakers.
Facebook Marketplace10% or $0.80 minimum on shipped items, nothing on local pickupFree on local pickup, which is the cheapest way to move bulky items.
Etsy6.5% + $0.20 listing fee + 3% + $0.25 payment processingHandmade and genuine vintage only, with search that rewards well-titled listings.
Grailed9% + 3.49% + $0.49 payment processingMenswear, luxury, and streetwear. Buyers arrive knowing what a piece is worth.
StockX9% base, falling with seller level, + 3% payment processingBid and ask, with authentication built in. Fees fall as your seller level rises.
Discogs9% on the item and shipping ($0.10 minimum, $150 cap) + 2.9% + $0.30 payment processingVinyl, CDs and cassettes, against the deepest music database anywhere. Buyers search by pressing, not by keyword.

eBay is the only one of the nine that publishes materially different rates by country, so it is the only one the calculator changes when you switch marketplace: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany. UK and German private sellers are a genuinely different fee model rather than a discount — eBay charges the buyer a Buyer Protection fee instead of charging you — and the calculator handles that separately when you set your seller status to Private.

Which marketplace has the lowest fees?

On the headline rate, Depop. It dropped its 10% seller commission for US and UK sellers in 2024, so all that’s left is 3.3% + $0.45 payment processing. Etsy at 6.5% and Whatnot at 8% come next, both plus processing.

The lowest fee is not the same thing as the most profit, though, and that’s the whole reason this page exists. Poshmark takes 20% — brutal on paper — but the buyer pays shipping, so on a heavy item it can out-earn a 10% platform where you buy the label. Facebook Marketplace charges nothing at all on local pickup. And the cheapest marketplace is worthless if nobody there is looking for what you sell.

Run your own item. A $10 thrift flip and a $500 designer bag rank the nine platforms in a completely different order, because flat per-order fees dominate at the bottom and percentages dominate at the top.

How to price for the profit you want

Most sellers price first and find out what they made afterward. This works the other way around.

    1. Switch to Find listing price. The first field becomes the profit you want to walk away with, rather than what the item sold for.
    2. Enter what the item cost you and your shipping, exactly as you would normally. Those are what the target profit has to survive.
    3. Read the price per marketplace. Each one comes back with the minimum you’d have to list at to clear that profit after every fee. Where that price is above what the item actually sells for, you have your answer about that platform.

The related number worth knowing is breakeven: the sale price where fees and costs leave you with exactly nothing. It sits inside every expanded row. Platform fees mean breakeven is always meaningfully higher than what you paid for the item, which is why accepting a low offer stings more than the arithmetic suggests.

    The terms on this page

    • Final value feeThe platform's cut of a completed sale, charged as a percentage. eBay's name for it; most other marketplaces just call it a selling or commission fee.
    • Payment processingThe card-handling charge, usually a percentage plus a few cents. Some platforms fold it into the headline rate, some bill it separately — which is why two 10% platforms are rarely equal.
    • Per-order feeA flat amount charged once per order regardless of price. Trivial on a $200 sale, brutal on a $5 one.
    • Ad rateWhat you agreed to pay for a promoted listing, charged on top of everything else and only when the ad produces the sale.
    • MarginProfit as a share of the sale price. A $10 profit on a $50 sale is a 20% margin.
    • ROIProfit as a share of what the item cost you. That same $10 profit on an item you bought for $5 is a 200% return.
    • BreakevenThe sale price at which fees and costs leave you with exactly nothing.

    Frequently asked questions

How much does eBay take from a sale?

In the US, eBay charges a 13.6% final value fee in most categories plus $0.40 per order on items over $10. Payment processing is already inside that percentage — there is no separate Stripe or PayPal cut. A Top Rated seller gets 10% off the final value fee, and a store subscription takes another 2% to 6% off. On a $45 sale with no store, that is about $6.52 to eBay.

What are eBay fees in the UK?

UK business sellers pay a 12.9% final value fee plus a 0.35% regulatory operating fee and £0.40 per order. UK private sellers pay no seller fee at all — eBay charges the buyer a Buyer Protection fee instead, which is built into the price the buyer sees. Set the country to United Kingdom and pick Private or Business, and the calculator uses the right model.

    What is Poshmark's commission?

Poshmark takes a flat $2.95 on sales under $15 and 20% on sales of $15 or more. There is no separate payment processing fee. The buyer pays a fixed shipping fee, so your payout is not reduced by the label unless you offer a shipping discount as a concession.

    What are Mercari seller fees?

Mercari charges a flat 10% selling fee on every sale. The old 2.9% + $0.50 payment processing fee was removed in January 2025, so 10% is the whole story. Prepaid labels are available in the app and the label cost comes out of your payout.

    Does Depop charge seller fees?

Depop removed its 10% seller commission for US and UK sellers in July 2024. What is left is payment processing at 3.3% + $0.45 per transaction through Stripe. That makes it the cheapest platform in this comparison for most items. Boosted listings cost an optional extra 8% if you opt in.

Which marketplace has the lowest seller fees?

For US sellers it is usually Depop, at 3.3% + $0.45 with no commission. Etsy at 6.5% plus processing and Whatnot at 8% plus processing come next. But the lowest fee is not always the most profit: Poshmark's 20% looks brutal until you notice the buyer pays shipping, which on a heavy item can beat a 10% platform where you cover the label. That is exactly what this calculator is for — run your own numbers rather than trusting a league table.

How do I calculate profit on a resale item?

Net profit is your sale price, minus platform fees, minus payment processing, minus what you paid for the item, minus shipping you cover, minus anything else you spent on it. Margin is that profit divided by the sale price. ROI is that profit divided by what the item cost you. Enter a price and a cost above and all three are calculated for every platform at once.

What is a reverse fee calculator?

It works backward. Instead of asking what a $45 sale leaves you, you say how much profit you want and it tells you the minimum you need to list at on each platform to get there after every fee. Switch the toggle to Find listing price, enter a target profit and your item cost, and you get a price per marketplace.

    What does breakeven mean here?

Breakeven is the sale price where you make exactly nothing — fees and costs eat the whole sale. Price below it and you lose money. It is the number worth knowing before you accept an offer, because platform fees mean breakeven is always higher than what you paid for the item.

Do promoted listings change the fee?

Yes, and it is the easiest fee to forget. eBay's promoted listings ad rate is charged on top of the final value fee, on the total sale amount, and only when the listing sells through an ad click. A 5% ad rate on a 13.6% category means about 18.6% gone. Open More options and set your ad rate to see the real number.

Are shipping costs included in the fee calculation?

Yes. If you cover shipping, enter your label cost and it comes straight out of profit. If the buyer pays, enter what they paid — on eBay, Mercari, Etsy, Facebook, and Whatnot the platform charges its percentage on the item price plus the shipping the buyer paid, which is a detail most calculators miss. Leave the label cost blank and shipping is estimated from the weight.

Does an eBay store subscription actually save money?

It lowers the final value fee by roughly 2% on Basic up to about 6% on Enterprise, and adds free listings. Whether it pays for itself depends on your volume: the subscription is a fixed monthly cost, so the discount has to beat it. Set your store tier under More options and compare the profit figure with and without.

How accurate is this fee calculator?

Platform percentages and per-order fees are taken from each marketplace's published fee schedule and were last checked in April 2026. eBay rates are region-specific for the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Germany. The other eight platforms use US rates everywhere, because they do not publish materially different schedules by country. Shipping uses your entered label cost when you give one, and a weight estimate when you don't.

Can I compare fees across platforms at once?

That is the point of the page. Enter your item once and every platform is calculated side by side, sorted by what you keep. The winner is called out at the top with how much more it makes than the runner-up, so you can see whether the difference is worth switching for.

Is this reseller fee calculator free?

Yes. No signup, no limits, nothing to install. PalmFlow builds the free tools resellers actually use; the paid product connects to your marketplace accounts and does this math automatically on every real sale, using the fees you were actually charged.

Does it work for Vinted, Amazon, or Shopify?

Not yet. The nine platforms here are the ones most resellers move volume on, and each fee model is hand-built and checked rather than guessed. If you sell somewhere that isn't listed, the method still holds — subtract platform fee, processing, cost, and shipping from the sale price.

    Estimating is the slow way.

PalmFlow connects to your marketplace accounts and does this on every real sale, using the fees you were actually charged — not the ones the fee schedule says you should have been.
