The pages you actually work in, rebuilt
Inventory opens on your shelf now, instead of on a form. Adding an item is a button you press when you want it — the form arrives, takes what you give it, and gets out of the way. It used to sit permanently above your stock, nine boxes open whether or not you were adding anything, which is a strange thing to look at every time you just wanted to see what you own.
- Editing an item opens it over the row you clicked, rather than sending you back to the top of the page to find the form. On a long shelf that was a scroll up, a change, and a scroll back to where you were.
- Every one of these pages now opens by telling you where you stand. Inventory leads with what your shelf cost and what it's worth if it all sells; Orders leads with the month's earnings and profit. The same numbers were there before, as a row of labels floating above everything else — now they're a sentence you can read.
- Locations and Suppliers have been rebuilt from scratch. They're proper pages with proper columns now: a spot tells you what it's holding and, if you've given it a capacity, how full it is. A source tells you what's on the shelf from it and what it's earned.
- And Suppliers answers the question worth asking. Every dollar you spent at a place comes back as some amount — the page names the source with the best return and shows what each one gives back per dollar, so the next trip is to the one that pays rather than the one you went to last.
- Give a spot a capacity and it fills up visibly as you put things in it, and tells you when you've gone over. Worth doing for a bin that genuinely holds forty things.
- Anything that changes something now asks first, in a proper window — adding, editing and removing all behave the same way on every page, and removing something tells you what happens to what was in it before it happens.
- Once a list is long enough to need it, a search box appears above it. Below that, it doesn't — a filter over three shelves is just furniture.
- The loading screens draw the page that's coming, so it stops rearranging itself the moment it arrives.
- All of it works on a phone, including the bits that didn't before.
